What this does
Lets you speak through a colleague’s desk phone speaker — or a group of phones, or every phone in the office — without them picking up. Good for “your visitor’s here” or a quick announcement. The phones you page answer themselves on speaker.
What you’ll need
- A desk phone registered to your extension, set up by us (see Connect your new Bluehubcloud handset).
- Paging enabled for your extension, and the phones you’re paging set up to accept it. If it isn’t available on your Bluehubcloud PBX, contact us and we’ll set it up for you.
- For paging a group, the group’s number — your administrator sets these up.
Steps
Paging one phone:
- Pick up the handset and dial *400 followed by the extension, for example *400 2001.
- Wait for the tone, then speak. Your voice comes out of that phone’s speaker.
- Hang up when you’re done.
Paging a group of phones (for example the warehouse, or reception):
- Dial *600 followed by the paging group number your administrator gave you. Speak after the tone and hang up when finished.
Paging every phone that’s set up for it:
- Dial *399, speak after the tone, and hang up.
Two-way intercom: on a single-phone page, the person you’ve paged can usually just talk back through their phone without lifting the handset. If their phone is set up for one-way paging only, they’ll need to pick up to reply.
What you should see
You hear a short tone, then the phone or phones you paged go live on speaker with a beep. Their screens show a page or intercom call while it’s open.
Troubleshooting
- *400 rings the phone normally instead of paging. That phone isn’t set to auto-answer pages. Contact us and we’ll set it up.
- The page is one-way and they can’t reply. Two-way paging has to be enabled on the phones. Contact us.
- I paged everyone by mistake. Hang up — the page ends immediately.
- Some phones didn’t pick up the page. Only phones enabled for paging respond. If one should have and didn’t, contact us with the extension number.
