What is Communicator?
Communicator is the Bluehubcloud softphone: an app for Windows, macOS, Linux, web browsers and (as Communicator GO) iPhone and Android that lets you make and take business calls on your work extension and caller ID, plus chat, SMS, voicemail and meetings.
Which operating systems and browsers does it run on?
Desktop: Windows 10 and 11 (including ARM), macOS and Ubuntu Linux. Web: Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Mobile: iPhone and Android via Communicator GO.
Can staff use the same extension on desktop and mobile?
Yes. One extension, every device – and a live call can be switched between desk phone, laptop and mobile.
Will outbound calls show the business caller ID?
Yes. Calls from Communicator and Communicator GO show your business number, not a personal mobile.
Does it work inside Microsoft Teams?
Yes, two ways: sync your Teams status to Communicator, or use Communicator for Teams, a desktop add-in that puts calling, SMS, transfers, parking, voicemail and recording inside Teams.
Does Communicator do SMS?
Yes. Send and receive SMS and MMS from your business number; threads sync across devices and a shared number can be worked by the whole team.
Does it connect to our CRM?
Yes – Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Zendesk, Microsoft Dynamics, Pipedrive, SugarCRM/SuiteCRM, Vtiger and Bullhorn, with the customer’s record popping on each call.
Do I need a headset?
For softphone mode, yes – any USB or Bluetooth headset works; some are fully tested for one-touch answer and mute. You can also run Communicator in desk-phone mode with your handset.
Can Communicator replace desk phones?
Yes. Many teams run entirely on the desktop and mobile apps; others keep handsets for some roles. Both work together.
What devices can I use Bluehubcloud PBX on?
Almost anything that makes a call. Desk phones – over 200 supported VoIP handsets from Yealink, Poly, Grandstream, Snom, Fanvil, Cisco and more, including cordless DECT handsets, conference phones, door and paging units, and analogue adapters for existing phones (bring your own, subject to a compatibility check, or buy through us). Computers – Communicator on Windows, macOS and Linux. Phones and tablets – Communicator GO on iPhone and Android. Any browser – Communicator Web on Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. And Microsoft Teams – with Communicator for Teams. All on the same extension.
