What this does
Gets a new, Bluehub-supplied handset ready to use on your extension with no manual setup. This works because we already have that specific device’s MAC address and serial number on file from when we supplied it — once we’ve assigned it to your extension on our end, it configures itself automatically the first time it connects to your network.
What you’ll need
- A handset that Bluehub actually supplied you — auto-provisioning depends on us already having that specific device’s MAC address and serial number on file, not just on the model being a supported one (see Which phones work with Bluehubcloud PBX?). If you’ve bought a supported model yourself rather than through us, contact Helpdesk first to get its details added before plugging it in.
- A working network connection (ethernet, or Wi-Fi if the model supports it).
Steps
- Connect the handset to power and to your network.
- Wait a few minutes while it contacts our system and downloads its configuration automatically — no login, address, or settings entry required from you.
- Confirm it shows your name and extension number once it finishes starting up.
What you should see
The handset displays your extension and is ready to make and receive calls, with no configuration screens to click through.
Troubleshooting
- It’s been several minutes and it still isn’t showing your extension. Check the network connection first (cable seated properly, or correct Wi-Fi network if applicable). If it’s still not working, contact Bluehubcloud support rather than trying to enter settings yourself.
- You bought a supported model yourself rather than through Bluehub. Auto-provisioning won’t work until we have that specific device’s MAC address and serial number on file — contact Helpdesk to get it added before plugging it in.
- This handset was used somewhere else before (a previous job, a different provider). It likely still has old settings on it that need clearing first — see How do I connect a used or pre-configured handset from another carrier? rather than plugging it straight in.
- You’re being asked to manually enter a server address, extension number, or password on the phone itself. Stop and contact us instead — a correctly supported, correctly assigned handset never needs this typed in by hand.
