What this does

Moves an active call to someone else — a number you type in, a contact from your list (by drag-and-drop), or another call you’re already on — either handing it off completely (blind transfer) or speaking to the other person first (attended transfer).

What you’ll need

  • An active call.
  • The extension, number, or contact you’re transferring to.

Steps

Transfer to a number you type in:

  1. During the call, enter the destination number and choose Blind to send the call straight across, or Attended to speak with the destination first before completing the transfer.

Transfer by dragging a contact:

  1. Click and hold the call, drag it onto the contact in your list, and drop it. A transfer indicator appears while dragging. Choose Blind, Attended, or send it straight to that contact’s Voicemail. This doesn’t work for conference calls.

Combine two active calls:

  1. If you’re already on a second call, you can bring both callers together onto the same line — for example, you’re speaking with one contact, a second call comes in, and you connect all three so everyone can hear each other.

What you should see

Blind ends your side of the call immediately once the transfer starts. Attended keeps you connected to the destination first, so you can announce the call before completing it or backing out. A transfer sent to Voicemail drops the caller straight into the destination’s mailbox.

Troubleshooting

  • Drag-and-drop transfer isn’t working. Confirm you’re not trying to do it on a conference call — drag-and-drop transfer only works for a regular one-to-one call.
  • You want to check with someone before completing the transfer. Use Attended, not Blind — Blind sends the call across immediately with no chance to speak to the destination first.
  • You need to type in an external number rather than pick a contact. Type it directly into the transfer field — you don’t need the number saved as a contact first.
