What you’ll need
Nothing — just your computer or phone’s operating system version, to check against the tables below.
Steps
- For Communicator on your computer, check your operating system against this table:
| Operating system | Supported |
|---|---|
| Windows 10 (1809 or later) | Yes |
| Windows 11 | Yes |
| Windows on ARM | Yes |
| macOS 11.1 or later | Yes, up to Communicator Desktop version 7.3.x |
| macOS 13.1 or later | Yes, required for Communicator Desktop version 7.4.0 and later |
| Linux (Ubuntu 22.04) | Yes |
If you’re on macOS 11.1–12.x, Communicator Desktop still runs, but you’re capped at version 7.3.x — updating to the newest Communicator Desktop release needs macOS 13.1 or later first.
- For Communicator GO on your phone, it runs on modern iOS and Android devices. There’s no separate minimum-version table published for GO — as a general rule, keep your phone’s operating system reasonably up to date, since a small number of newer features (like certain notification or file-sharing permissions) are gated to recent Android versions specifically.
- If your operating system isn’t listed above, or is an older version your device’s manufacturer no longer supports, Communicator may still run but we can’t guarantee full functionality or the best performance.
What you should see
If your operating system is on the list, Communicator (or Communicator GO) installs and runs normally — see How do I set up Communicator on my computer? or How do I set up Communicator GO on my phone? for the setup steps.
Troubleshooting
- Your operating system isn’t on the list. Communicator may still work, but we can’t guarantee it. Where possible, update to a supported version first.
- Communicator runs but something doesn’t work properly. If you’re on an older, unsupported operating system version, that’s the most likely explanation. Updating your OS is the first thing to try before contacting support.
- Communicator Desktop won’t update past a certain version on your Mac. If you’re on macOS 11.1–12.x, that’s expected — version 7.4.0 and later needs macOS 13.1 or later. Update macOS first, then Communicator Desktop.
