What this does
Lets you click a phone number on any web page to dial it through Communicator, instead of copying it across manually. Available for Chrome and Firefox.
What you’ll need
- Communicator Desktop installed and running.
- Chrome or Firefox.
Steps
- In Communicator, go to Tools > Download Web Browser Addons, select your browser, and click OK — the extension file downloads to your Downloads folder.
- Chrome: open Chrome’s Extensions page, then drag and drop the downloaded extension file onto it. Confirm the prompts to continue and install.
- Firefox: drag and drop the downloaded extension file onto an open Firefox tab, then click Install Now once it’s enabled.
What you should see
Phone numbers on web pages become clickable — clicking one dials it through Communicator instead of just selecting the text.
Troubleshooting
- The drag-and-drop install doesn’t do anything. Make sure you’re dropping the file onto the browser’s Extensions page (Chrome) or an open tab (Firefox), not just anywhere in the browser window.
- You can’t find the downloaded file. Check your Downloads folder — that’s where step 1 saves it, under whatever name matches your browser.
- A number on a page isn’t clickable. Not every page formats numbers in a way the extension recognises — this is a limitation of the page, not something to troubleshoot on your end.
